Your Application for a Job in Hospitality

We have tried to answer some of the questions that you may have about your application to join one of our hotel hospitality teams. If you have any other questions, you can always contact the Human Resources Manager in the property that you are applying to.

What do you do with my job application?

The Manager with the employment opportunity screens all of the applications received against the criteria for the job. They will look at your skills and knowledge as demonstrated by your qualifications and previous experience, and will decide from that whether they would like to invite you for a job interview.

Why don’t we interview everybody for each job advertised?

We have many job applications for each role that we advertise, and it would not be possible to interview everybody, so we create a shortlist of the candidates who appear to be most suitable from their applications, and invite them for interview.

How will I be contacted to arrange a job interview?

We will usually contact you by telephone or email to arrange a job interview. If we can’t get hold of you either of these ways, we will write to you, but this is obviously slower. When we have a hospitality job available, we’re always keen to fill it as quickly as we can. Please ensure that the contact details you give us on your application form are up to date so that we will be able to get hold of you easily.

What happens if my job interview is successful?

If your job interview is successful, you will initially be told informally that you have got the job. Your job offer is confirmed once you receive a letter from the Human Resources department detailing all of the arrangements for your new job. Our recommendation would be that you don’t resign until you have received your offer in writing and checked that you are happy with all the details.

What happens if I’m unsuccessful?

If you are unsuccessful, we will let you know by telephone, by email or in writing.

Will you keep my details on file?

Sometimes we meet with somebody who is not quite right the role that was advertised, but who we feel could be a very good fit into Exclusive Hotels if a different hospitality employment opportunity arose. We keep a database of fantastic candidates and draw on this when an opportunity becomes available.
